In Old Forge the people on Rosemount Drive are fed up with the deplorable conditions of the roads. Old Forge Borough council has been aware of this problem for seven years and has not taken any action to remedy the situation.
One resident, Guy DiAndreoli came to a council meeting on June 15th to express his exasperation and frustration with this problem. He asked council when are they going to pave the road. The bottom line is that Council stonewalled him for about a half hour, allegeding that they cannot do anything about the situation due to a lawsuit that is pending against the borough. It turned into a quintessential Catch 22 scenario. Council President Brian Rinaldi explained esoterically that if they did pave the road, and lost the lawsuit and people were not happy with the pave job, it would have to be ripped up and then we're back to square one! Excellent response!
Mr. DiAndreoli persisited in demanding answers from the council members, who did little more than babble incoherently. But this is a travesty because the average cost of a home there is between $250,000 and $300,000. Plus the enormous taxes on the properties. This a shame. Are the councils members worth their salaries? It seems like they don't care at all about this town, but are just phoning it in.
